Abu Dhabi Review, the city’s trusted digital guide for local news and events, is launching a landmark event to honour the people – both Emiratis and expatriates – who are making a real difference in the capital. The first-ever ADR Community Champions Awards 2025 will spotlight the changemakers shaping Abu Dhabi’s communities.
Set for Q4 2025, the awards will recognise remarkable contributions by individuals, groups, and organisations across ten diverse categories, from youth empowerment and environmental sustainability to cultural heritage, health and wellness, and beyond. More than 100 guests are expected to attend this evening dedicated to celebrating those who selflessly enrich the lives of others.
Founded by media innovator and Abu Dhabi Review CEO Asha Sherwood, the awards build on her mission to amplify local voices and foster meaningful connections within the capital. Over the past decade, Asha has reshaped Abu Dhabi’s media landscape with storytelling that captures the diversity and spirit of its people.
The ADR Community Champions Awards 2025 marks a natural progression of this mission, providing a formal platform to recognise those who go above and beyond for their communities.

Asha says, “These awards are a celebration of the people who make the capital extraordinary. In the spirit of the UAE’s Year of Community, we’re honouring those who uplift others, nurture belonging, and help co-create our shared future.”
From neighbourhood organisers to workplace role models, the initiative highlights the commitment of those making positive change across Abu Dhabi.
“Abu Dhabi is home to countless unsung heroes who dedicate their time, energy, and passion to making a difference,” Asha continues. “Through the Community Champions Awards, we want to celebrate these incredible people and inspire others to join them in creating positive change. Being so deeply integrated into the community has allowed us to build strong, lasting relationships with our audience. It’s earned us the privilege of becoming a trusted voice in the capital, and now we have the opportunity to give back and say thank you.”
Nominations will open around eight to ten weeks before the awards night in Q4. A distinguished judging panel, reflecting Abu Dhabi’s rich cultural diversity, will assess entries before winners are announced at an evening of recognition and networking. Shortlisted candidates will also gain significant visibility across Abu Dhabi Review’s platforms.
Businesses and organisations are invited to support the initiative through sponsorships aligned with their corporate social responsibility objectives and community commitments.
