- Innovative eco-strategy reduces landfill contributions by 10%, prevents up to 40 metric tonnes of CO₂ annually, and lifts guest satisfaction by up to 10%
- Company phases out single-use plastics and introduces waste-to-energy initiatives across all properties
Central Hotels & Resorts, among the UAE’s fastest-growing hospitality management companies, is strengthening its pledge to sustainable hospitality with a targeted green strategy delivering measurable results. From tackling food waste to removing plastic amenities, the group is establishing new benchmarks for environmentally responsible practices in the region’s hotel sector.
A core success has been in food waste reduction. Through a group-wide “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” system, Central Hotels & Resorts has achieved a 12% cut in food waste, generating annual savings of between 5% and 7% on total food expenditure.

Organic waste is segregated and channelled to Dubai Municipality’s Waste-to-Energy plant, diverting around 10% of waste from landfill. This move trims disposal costs by AED 20,000–25,000 per year and avoids the emission of an estimated 30–40 metric tonnes of CO₂ equivalents, supporting the UAE’s environmental targets.
The group’s restaurants employ data-led monitoring tools to track usage patterns and make real-time adjustments to menus. Buffet quantities are optimised to curb overproduction, while à la carte dishes offer portion flexibility to suit guest appetite.
In addition, plastic room amenities have been replaced with sustainable fibre-based alternatives throughout all properties, significantly reducing single-use plastics.
These eco-measures have had a positive effect on customer and staff engagement. Guest satisfaction scores have risen by 7%–10%, with many return visitors citing the sustainability drive as a deciding factor. Internally, 80% of staff report greater pride in their employer’s green commitment, with many proactively suggesting and implementing further eco-friendly practices.

“Our sustainability roadmap is not just about reducing waste or lowering costs—it’s about creating lasting value for our guests, employees, and community,” said Abdulla Ahmad Ali Al Abdulla Al Ansari, Chief Operating Officer and Group General Manager of Central Hotels & Resorts. “These initiatives reflect our long-term vision of responsible hospitality, where operational excellence goes hand in hand with environmental stewardship.”
Looking ahead, the company is exploring energy-efficient technologies, advanced water conservation systems, and more sustainable sourcing. It also welcomes partnerships with innovators, suppliers, and organisations committed to a greener hospitality future.
With sustainability firmly woven into its operations and ethos, Central Hotels & Resorts is demonstrating how hotels can advance environmental goals without compromising the guest experience.
